"At Meridian Credit Union, our members' financial wellness is an important priority. As a Branch Manager, I am well aware of the many benefits that flow from taking meaningful steps to increase financial literacy; this learning can literally change lives for the better. As such, I am a strong advocate of providing financial literacy to all of our members, especially our young adults.
I found Fred Masters' book, Lessons on Mastering Money, to be very well written and an easy read with the appropriate depth for our country's young adults who are highly motivated to learn more about the world of personal finance. The book offers a great introduction into the financial world with valuable core lessons that all Canadians need to understand to enjoy financial success. It concisely conveys key concepts like automating your saving and controlling debt.
We are going to be distributing Mr. Masters' book widely to our members in an effort to help them take better control of their financial lives. I even shared the book with my teenage daughter who is interested in investing as the lessons are easily digestible."
Amanda King, Branch Manager of Meridian Credit Union
Mr. Masters delivered two financial wellness presentations for Western University alumni during the 2022-2023 school year. Thanks to the university for placing a bulk order to support the presentations.
"Fred Masters has written a wonderful resource, Lessons on Mastering Money, meant to help those in the 20’s and 30’s control their personal finances. The book is filled with practical, understandable and usable material designed to help a novice in the field of finance, but is equally suitable for those who feel they already have some concrete knowledge. In fact, people of all ages will benefit from the numerous pieces of advice provided.
This book should be recommended extensively to young adults, to couples preparing to marry and to any others who are struggling with their own financial health. Buy it for yourself, or give it as a gift – you won’t regret it!"
Mrs. Teresa Hartnett, Director of Family Ministry, Diocese of Hamilton
"Fred’s book ”Lessons on Mastering Money" is really a handbook for setting the stage for a secure financial future. His presentation style, dotted with humour, acknowledged that money is the number one stressor in relationships. This event was a first step for those in attendance to take the leap into financial well-being."

“Financial education is in high demand, and Mr. Masters' book will significantly help our younger clients to better understand personal finances. Knowledge is power, and I am excited to share this book with our clients as a way to support them as they journey towards their own version of financial prosperity.”
Mason Leite, Financial Planner with Martin Christopher Investments
"Mr. Masters' teachings and tips as found in his book, Lessons on Mastering Money, are vital to our Black Youth Impact program. The book's core lessons on mastering the 'Money Mindset', debt and investing will serve as the foundation that permeates our customized and culturally informed financial literacy workshop for youth (15 to 21 years old) in our program.
As an immigrant and a cross-cultural leader myself, I am aware of the huge gaps for immigrants and the Black communities in general, when it comes to access to tools, skills and personalized practical financial lessons from a proactive stance. This book illuminates tangible personal finance strategies that are at the very heart of financial wellness, and teaches lessons that I often thought were set aside for 'others' but our Black communities due to systemic issues. As a young adult, I had to learn the very hard way and it is my hope that the experiences of the youth will be better than mine with this initiative in place. I am confident of this because our youth will be supported throughout their learning and will be provided a copy of Mr. Masters' book.
Our organization has made financial wellness training a priority in our youth programs and 'Lessons on Mastering Money' is a key part of that strategy. Given the financial duress that many feel, I would urge any organizational or business leader who supports young adults or our youth to pursue a similar pathway."
